For several years, the Council has monitored and commented to Transport Canada and more recently to the BC Government on the issue of derelict vessels cluttering the shores and harbours in BC.
In 2019, Council representatives made several recommendations for action to the BC
Government, Ministry of Environment with regard to dealing with “Vessels of Concern” that are becoming a major issue for local governments what do not have the legislative authority to deal with them.
The British Columbia government has now opened a website to deal with this issue.
